FAQs

Why we created this starter e-commerce package?
Over the last 20 years, we have had so many startup clients asking us for something to get started with and then upgrade / grow as more funds become available in their businesses.
We noted that even with providers such as Shopify, the recurring monthly costs remained too high even for a very basic online store (monthly platform usage fees + transaction fees).
Therefore, we finally created our Small Business Division for this exact reason. This division now makes packages such as this one available. This allows you to get started at a very affordable once-off fee, eliminating monthly platform costs and transaction fees, while leaving room to grow your online store as more funds become available.

Will I be able to make design changes to this site?
No design changes available – this is a pre-built platform – the only changes that can be made is loading and editing of your products.

What platform is used?
This pre-built site uses WordPress & Woocommerce as its backbone.

How many products can I add?
Though we only load the first 4 products, you can load unlimited products yourself.

Can I use this to sell products Internationally?
Yes – if you make use of the Payfast payment gateway then this will be possible. Payfast does accept payments from international credit cards / Apple Pay / Google Pay / etc. All pricing will however be displayed in South African Rands.

Courier integration?
This package does not include automated courier integration for shipping – most online sellers in most cases prefer to keep this a manual process and simply charge a flat rate per province or offer free shipping (shipping included in their product price). It is only in rare cases such as international clients that prefer automated shipping. So, the setup included in this package is the norm and will be more than sufficient for most business in South Africa. Should automated shipping be a must for you, then we can add this as an add-on at a extra cost.

What is hosting and what is included?
Hosting is the storage space for your website to be online and emails to function.
Included in the hosting is your up to 10 personalised email addresses (example: anna@mybusinessname.co.za), 10GB storage for your emails and website, website security and hosting support.

What if I already have a domain and hosting?
This is not a problem, we then simply load the site onto your existing hosting. Or we can transfer your domain and hosting to our side if you prefer.

  • We supply you with a questionnaire to collect the info for the first 5 products alongside your logo and contact info to go on the site.
  • We register your domain and set up your hosting.
  • We provide you with your up to 10 personalised email accounts (part of hosting).
  • We load the pre-built site on your new hosting.
  • We add your logo.
  • We add your about info in the provided section on the home page.
  • We add your contact info on the contact page.
  • We add your Terms and Conditions.
  • We load the received 2 product categories.
  • We load the received 4 products.
  • We link your payment method.
  • We set up the flat rate per province for shipping.
  • We provide you with your website manual and login access.
  • We do final testing to ensure everything is working.
